Cabrillo Playhouse has unveiled its 2026-2027 season, featuring six productions that span comedy, music, mystery, and adventure.
The season was revealed May 31 during a special event attended by board members, volunteers, and members of the local arts community. Producing Artistic Director Michael Lopez shared details about the upcoming lineup, which was selected in collaboration with the Play Selection Subcommittee consisting of Lopez and board members Hillary Pearson, Holly Jones, and Carissa Mace.
Following a shortened season that began in January, the 2026-2027 season marks a return to Cabrillo’s traditional schedule and rotation of productions after three years of renovation-related adjustments.
“We’re excited to be back on our normal calendar,” Lopez said. “This season offers a great mix of comedy, music, heart, and spectacle. There’s truly something for everyone.”
The season opens with The Addams Family, featuring a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, running October 2 through November 1, 2026. This spooky and hilarious musical follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with a young man from a perfectly respectable family, setting the stage for an unforgettable meeting between two very different worlds.
Both musicals in the season will run for five weeks rather than Cabrillo’s traditional four-week schedule.
“As it’s an extra week, those fifth-week performances won’t be part of season ticket packages, although season ticket holders can, of course, exchange for them,” Lopez said.
Next is The Salonnières by Liz Duffy Adams, running November 13 through December 13, 2026. Set in pre-Revolutionary Paris, the play blends history, politics, and storytelling as a group of aristocratic women use wit and imagination to challenge the conventions of their time.
“Costumes, costumes, costumes,” Lopez said. “We’ve wanted to do something with extravagant costumes for a long time, and this is that opportunity.”
The new year begins with The Savannah Sipping Society by Jones Hope Wooten, running January 8 through January 31, 2027. This comedy follows four Southern women who unexpectedly form a friendship while navigating life’s challenges and discovering new possibilities.
“I’m very excited about this,” Lopez said. “We’ve produced shows by Jones Hope Wooten before, and they’re always audience favorites.”
The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez takes the stage February 26 through March 21, 2027. The comedy tells the story of a struggling Elvis impersonator whose life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself performing in the world of drag.
“I’m very excited about this one, and it’s going to push our audience a little bit,” Lopez said. “When I first read the script, I wanted to do it last year, but we didn’t have a big enough set. After our recent renovation, now we do.”

The fifth production of the season will be a musical running April 16 through May 16, 2027. While Cabrillo is contractually unable to announce the title until after July 20, Lopez promised audiences that the wait will be worth it.
“We are contractually not allowed to announce it until after July 20, so stay tuned for more information on this exciting production,” he said.
The season concludes with Clue, a comedy mystery based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn and written by Sandy Rustin, running June 4 through June 27, 2027. Inspired by the beloved film and classic board game, the fast-paced whodunit follows a group of suspicious dinner guests as they attempt to solve a murder before becoming the next victims themselves.
“We’ve been trying to get this show for the past three years, but it’s just not been available,” Lopez said. “This is our lucky year. I can’t wait to bring this show to our Cabrillo audience next year.”
Season ticket renewals begin July 1, with new season ticket orders opening August 1 and single tickets available beginning September 1. Additional information will be announced soon.
